A tragic incident unfolded in South Carolina as a thirteen-year-old boy, described as “happy-go-lucky,” was fatally shot by his close friend during a squirrel hunting trip. Cameron Connor, an eighth-grader, lost his life in what authorities have termed a “hunting accident” while he and his friend were hunting on private property near Santee.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources confirmed the incident, offering condolences to the family and friends of the young boy. Cameron’s mother, Peggy Wagers Connor, expressed her profound grief on social media, urging others to cherish their loved ones and offering prayers for her family and the friend involved in the tragedy.

“Heaven gained an angel,” wrote Connor, mourning the loss of her son. Cameron, known for his love of sports and outdoor activities, had a significant impact on his school and community. Described as an avid fisherman and athlete, he played tight end in football and was part of the baseball team at his private school.
